DugsiConnect is a school communication and operations platform used by school tenants, parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and platform administrators. This Privacy Policy explains how DugsiConnect collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when the platform is used in Somaliland.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how the platform is used, DugsiConnect may collect: - account details such as name, phone number, email address, and login credentials - school membership details such as school, class, role, linked child, and teacher assignments - academic and operational records such as attendance, homework, grades, feedback, events, and announcements - communication data such as messages, message attachments, and notification history - technical information such as device identifiers, app version, crash or error logs, push notification tokens, and general usage diagnostics - files or documents uploaded by users for school-related purposes

DugsiConnect uses personal information to: - create and manage user accounts - connect users to the correct school, class, and role - support attendance, homework, grading, messaging, and school administration workflows - send in-app and push notifications - maintain platform security, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot issues - improve reliability, performance, and user experience

5. How information is shared

DugsiConnect shares information only as necessary to operate the service. This may include: - sharing student information with linked parents or guardians - showing class and student information to assigned teachers - showing operational and oversight data to authorized school administrators - showing limited tenant and support information to authorized platform administrators - using cloud infrastructure and technical service providers that help host, store, secure, or deliver the service DugsiConnect does not sell personal information.

6. Student and child data

DugsiConnect is designed for school communities and may process information relating to students, including minors. Schools and parents or guardians should ensure that student information entered into the platform is appropriate for school administration, communication, and learning support purposes. For many school records, the relevant school is the primary decision-maker about what data is entered, corrected, retained, or removed. Parents and guardians should normally direct school-record requests to the relevant school first.

7. Data retention

DugsiConnect retains information for as long as needed to operate the platform, support the relevant school tenant, meet legitimate record-keeping needs, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with applicable legal or operational requirements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of record and the school tenant’s needs.

8. Storage, security, and cross-border processing

DugsiConnect uses managed cloud infrastructure and applies role-based access controls and other technical measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Because the platform uses internet-based infrastructure, information may be stored or processed outside Somaliland. By using the service, users and school tenants understand that cross-border processing may occur as part of normal platform operations.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on the type of information and the school’s role in managing it, users may be able to request access, correction, or deletion of certain personal information. Requests relating to student, class, attendance, grading, or other school records should usually be directed to the relevant school first. DugsiConnect may need to retain some data for security, legal, technical, or record-keeping reasons.
